Garmin BaseCamp is a free Garmin program for viewing maps and planning trips with Garmin GPS devices. This application contains tools that can be used to view maps, create and edit waypoints, routes and tracks, and add notes that contain information about a particular location. Then, after editing, the data can be easily sent back to the device. BaseCamp works with Garmin map products (all MapSource maps except BlueChart), BirdsEye imagery and Garmin Custom Maps, but it does not work with serial GPS devices.
The interface of the application is practical: the library with your collections is on the left, the map in the center and an overview map in the corner. It is possible to view maps both in 2D and 3D modes, and you can change the viewpoint with the mouse. Data can be imported from GPX, KML and FIT files, backed up and restored. Garmin BaseCamp is distributed free of charge; the latest version dates from 2023 and requires Windows 7 SP1 or later.
Garmin BaseCamp allows users to easily edit and plan routes on 2D and 3D maps and transfer them to Garmin GPS devices.
