Live Effects GP

Live Effects GP (General Purpose) is the next step in Live Effects for Mulab 4.1 or higher.

What it is:

Send your audio or instrument output into Live Effects.
Play a note on your keyboard and the audio is running through the effect.
You can play more than one key at the same time and the key's velocity will affect the volume of that effect.

Setup:

To keep the midi in focus on Live Effects it is best if you put it in it's own rack so that you can keep playing the effects instead of an instrument sitting before it.
Route the output of the instrument rack to the Live Effect rack.

If you trigger Live Effects from a sequence you can run it as insert.

Edit an effect:

Each effect has one parameter for immediate editing.

If you need more, click on one of the red buttons and the effect editor will pop up.
Mulab effects will look like we all know it. Edit the parameters and close the effect.

If the effect is based on a VST there is an extra step to reach the VST GUI.

Click the green button to open the VST.

Change an effect:

Click the red button to open the effect.
Now simply browse for any Mulab effect or your own Mulab or VST based creation.

There are some effects setup ready to use in the “Basic Effects” folder.
These are effects based on Mulab creations.

VST based effects can be found in a separate sub folder

That's all! Simple and easy.

Have fun!!!!!!

Now the section for the advanced user.

How to create your own effect:

Mulab based effects:

Simply browse to any effect creation of your own. It will work instantly! There is no need to worry about the inner workings of Live Effects.

Some suggestions and notes:

In case your effect requires it, the effect will receive the note that is played (C if you put the effect into the first slot).
The one parameter shown in the front panel of Live Effects is the first meta parameter in your effect MuX. Setup this meta parameter as you see fit.

Save this MuX in the “Basic Effects” folder of Live Effects.

VST based effects:

Your VST has to go into a MuX!
It's basically only

Audio Input → VST → Audio Output

and a front panel parameter and module added.

Easiest is to take the 'Basic Effect' patch and add your own VST. Setup meta parameter 1 with the VST parameter you want to see on the front panel. Drag and Drop the VST module onto the front panel to access it easily.
The rest is taken care of.

Save your creation.
