pARatrooper is an augmented reality (AR) reinterpretation of the famous 80s game, Paratrooper. The concept of the game is straightforward: prevent the paratroopers from landing. However, in this revised version, there's no need for a weapon: you can destroy the paratroopers with your finger, hand, head, etc. The only equipment required to play is just a webcam. Augmented reality is a technology that merges live video and virtual objects.

There's no need for any specific controller to manage the game. The player just needs a webcam, preferably with a resolution of 640x480 and operating at a minimum of 30 frames per second. Unfortunately, not all built-in webcams in laptops provide the expected quality. According to the game rules, you must destroy the spy paratroopers, non-violently, just by moving them off the screen.

Features:
  • Intuitive playability using gestures and body movements.
  • Works with a standard webcam, ideally with a resolution of 640x480 and operating at 30 frames per second.
  • Based on augmented reality technology, combining live video and virtual objects.
  • Draws inspiration from the game Paratrooper, one of the earliest PC games, which, in turn, is said to be based on one of the first Apple games, Sabbotage.

To advance to the next level, you need to collect a certain number of bonuses in the form of smiles. You can play the game with anything you like - fingers, hands, heads, and other assistive objects. Please note that the style of play may vary depending on the distance between you and the camera. This game is a remake of one of the oldest PC games, Paratrooper, which is said to be based on one of Apple's earliest games, Sabbotage.
