Desktop Fay

Desktop Fay is a virtual assistant for Windows written by Dmitry Kozhinov. An animated character sits on the desktop and gives access to a small set of everyday tools: reminders for events and appointments, an e-mail client, a calculator and a conversation mode in which the assistant answers questions, with support for speech recognition and speech synthesis.

Keeps reminders, e-mail and a calculator at hand through one animated desktop assistant.

The e-mail part sends and receives messages over connections secured with SSL/TLS or STARTTLS and keeps an address book and mailing lists. A message can be sent to a whole list as separate personalised e-mails, with tags for the recipient's name and address, which makes small mailings possible. Gmail accounts cannot be used as the sending account. The program is fully functional during a 30-day trial, after which a recurring licence fee applies.

• Reminders for events and appointments
