IceSL is a Windows application for people who design parts for 3D printing and need to prepare them for fabrication. Users can build shapes with code or import an existing model, then configure how it should be printed. The software can also produce output for resin printers and laser cutters, making it useful for several fabrication workflows.

Build and slice custom parts in one workflow, with control over supports, fill patterns and print settings.

Its modeling tools use Lua scripts to combine meshes, voxel forms and mathematically defined surfaces. When preparing a model, users can vary settings between layers, change fill density and add supports for difficult spans. Other controls cover variable slice heights, paths for multiple filaments, cooling based on overhang angles and material flow for individual extruders.

Features:

  • Imports STL and OBJ models
  • Generates G-code for 3D printers
  • Produces images for resin printers
  • Creates tool routes for laser cutting
  • Adjusts clearance around print supports
  • Configures periodic surface fill patterns

PROS
Lua scripting enables customizable parametric 3D models.
Adaptive layers and varied infills offer detailed slicing control.

CONS
Scripted modeling has a steep learning curve.
