Almageste released DragonDisk for Windows under freeware licensing. The original version was released back in mid-October 2012, and the latest version 1.05 addressed previously encountered cloud server issues. DragonDisk can run on different operating systems, including Windows (later than Windows 2000), macOS, and Linux, and supports cloud storage across different platforms. Some of the compatible cloud providers include popular Google Cloud, Caringo Inc., and others. Besides, DragonDisk allows for incorporating S3-compatible storage solutions or S3 API, which is not limited to LeoFS, SwiftStack, etc.
This software package requires an Amazon 3S account. Once users set up their Amazon 3S account and have them configured correctly, they can start managing it with other S3-compatible services and solutions. Furthermore, this also means users can add more than one Amazon 3S accounts and manage them simultaneously. Syncing, managing, and organizing files can be carried out with ease. It has straight forward and intuitive graphical user interface to manage your cloud data. The software package itself takes up about less than 10 MB and can be used to efficiently back up, manage, and organize a large number of data files.
At the time of original release, its ease of use attracted a good user base. When sharing and organizing files, users can limit the operations based on the account hierarchy. This ensures that users have a secure and reliable cloud working environment. While its development seemed to have halted a while ago, numerous similar open-source projects have emerged. The software package is still managed by the Almageste team and can be reached directly for support.
