Touch Screen Auto Calibration
Touch Screen Auto Calibration is a small utility from GIGABYTE for the capacitive multi-touch screen of the GIGABYTE T1125P, an 11.6-inch convertible notebook whose swivel screen turns it into a tablet. The notebook has a 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display and Intel Core i3 or i5 ULV processors, and it shipped with Windows 7. It combines tablet PC and docking technology and adds a removable Super Multi DVD drive, a USB 3.0 port, HDMI output and a 1.3-megapixel camera. The tool is published on the GIGABYTE support site among the utilities for this model and is meant to restore accurate touch input when taps no longer land where the finger touches the screen, for example after reinstalling Windows or the touch screen driver.
Touch Screen Auto Calibration restores accurate touch input on the GIGABYTE T1125P notebook with a single click.
Features
The utility does one job and keeps it simple. Its main points are:
• One-button calibration: the window shows a short prompt asking you to click "Auto Calibration" to improve the accuracy of the touchscreen, and a single button that starts the process.
• Automatic process: the calibration runs on its own, so no manual configuration or tapping of targets is required.
• Portable: the download is a ZIP archive (nb-utility-T1125P-Auto-Calibration.zip, about 210 KB) that holds a single program file, Auto Calibration.exe, which runs without installation from any folder.
• Made for one device: the tool targets the touch panel of the T1125 series and is not a general calibration tool for other touch screens or monitors.
• Windows 7 support: GIGABYTE lists the utility for Windows 7 in 32-bit and 64-bit versions, the system the T1125P shipped with.
• Freeware: the utility is free and is distributed by GIGABYTE together with the other drivers and utilities for the notebook.
• Companion to the driver: GIGABYTE offers the T1125P touch screen driver on the same support page, and if taps are still offset after calibration, reinstalling that driver is a sensible next step.
• Single release: the only version is 1.0.0, released in 2011, and it has not been updated since.
Conclusion
Touch Screen Auto Calibration is useful only for owners of a GIGABYTE T1125P or another T1125 series convertible whose touch input has become inaccurate. It is a one-click, portable and free tool, but it is old and model-specific. On other touch devices, Windows offers its own "Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input" option in Tablet PC Settings in Control Panel.
