Before the game begins, you and the computer will roll a die to determine the order of play, with the player who rolls the higher number going first.

During your turn, click the button in the middle of the screen to roll the dice. The numbers on the dice indicate how many steps you can move. For example, if you roll a 3 and a 6, you can move a piece 3 spaces forward, then move that same piece or another one 6 spaces. It is also necessary to make as many moves as possible. If the dice roll the same number, you can use each die twice and make four moves. You can move your pieces to a column that is empty or occupied by your own pieces, but you cannot move your pieces to a column occupied by two or more of your opponent's pieces.

If a column is occupied by a single piece from the opponent, the piece becomes a "blot"; you can land your own piece on this column to hit the "blot" and move it onto the bar in the middle of the board. Any piece that is moved onto the bar must start from the beginning, and a player cannot move his other pieces until all his pieces on the bar have re-entered the game. Once you have moved all your pieces onto your home board, you can start bearing them off, and the order of removal will follow the numbers rolled from the dice.
