BDtoAVCHD for Windows allows you to backup, convert, and compress your valuable files, maximizing quality AND space. Keep files at 1080p while reducing the number of bytes they hog. Simply select the final desired format and BDtoAVCHD will automatically adjust its conversion parameters. The program reports to you on output bitrate and overall quality, then you're off and away!
Convenient features include an auto-shutoff: High-quality disc files take a long time to rip and burn, so this program allows you to set your computer to automatically shut off when it's finished converting. Queue multiple conversions with unique settings for each-- the process can be as hands-off or hands-on as you like. This software also maintains the chapter structure of the original disc, making for easier navigation should you ever need to burn your backup file to disc. Audio tracks and subtitles can be selected and converted separately as you choose. If you just need to shave off another 5 mb to fit that file, consider only selecting the tracks you actually need, and getting rid of tracks in languages you don't speak. If absolutely necessary, audio can be converted from PCM to AC3, DTS-HD MA to DTS Core, DTS to AC3, and so on.
BDtoAVCHD was developed by Joel Gali, and requires about 36 MB of space, and is supported on Windows 10, 8, and 7. You don't need to install any codecs like avisynth, ffdshow or Haalir media splitter. For subtitles, .NET Framework 4 is required.
