Clonezilla is a partition and disk cloning program. It helps to do system deployment, bare metal backup, and recovery. It is very similar to True Image or Norton Ghost.

There are three types of Clonezilla available,

1. Clonezilla Live - It is suitable for single machine backup and restore.

2. Clonezilla Lite Server - It is a massive deployment from an image via a multicast mechanism.

3. Clonezilla SE (Server Edition) - It is developed in 2004 and it is used to deploy many computers simultaneously. It is an extremely useful tool, but it does have some kind of limitations. In order to use it, the user must first prepare a DRBL server and the machine to be deployed must boot from a network.

Clonezilla live can also be boosed in BIOS and UEFI machines. The feature of step-by-step copy is done by dd for unsupported files in Clonezilla. Clonezilla SE performs the task of multicasting in which it is used for massive cloning. The shrink partition is to fit the destination partition Clonezilla is used to clone windows 10 to a new SSD or HDD. Another important feature in Clonezilla is a boot loader reinstallation in which grub and syslinux should be reinstalled. In Clonezilla, one image is restored in multiple devices. High standards of encryption and decryption algorithm are designed for developing Clonezilla. It is the best tool for backup hard drives. Unattended mode is supported in that the programming steps can be skipped by writing commands.

It supports for system deployment and also metal backup and recovery of the windows operating system.
Features:

  • It supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS of MS Windows.
  • One image can restore to multiple local devices is supported.
  • Image could be encryted. It is done with ecryptfs, a POSIX compliant enterprise crypotographic stacked file system.
  • Multicast is supported in Clonezille SE, which is suitable for massive clone. It can also remotely use to restore or save a group of computers if PXE and Wake-on-LAN are supported in the clients end.
  • AES-256 encryption can be used to secure data access, storage and transfer.

Requirements are,

1. x86 or x86-64 processor.

2. 196 MB of system memory (RAM).

3. Boot device like CD/DVD Drive, USB port, PXE, or hard drive.

This software is great for imagining or cloning programs so it you need a duplicate copy of a program, it really helps. I found it very user-friendly and anyone can use it, you don't need too much technical background to get this. I had no errors when using it and I found it to be everything it states. I would highly recommend to anyone.

Clonezilla is a great tool for data backup, especially for those who need to back up large amounts of data. I have used it for backing up my computer, and the process is relatively straightforward and easy to understand. The resulting image is also relatively small, taking up little space on the target drive. The bootable media created is also convenient, allowing you to quickly restore the backup image in case of an emergency. The only downside is the lack of a GUI, so those unfamiliar with command line may find it a bit intimidating. I also encountered some issues with restoring a large image, but I was able to get it working with a few tweaks. All in all, Clonezilla is a great backup solution.

I recently used Clonezilla software to back up my computer and I was very pleased with the results. The software was easy to install and use, and the cloning process was completed quickly and accurately. The interface was intuitive and the cloning process was clearly explained step-by-step. I was also impressed by the fact that the software had a variety of options for cloning, such as local disk to disk, disk to image, image to disk, etc. The cloning process resulted in no data loss or corruption. In addition, the software was offered for free, which was a great bonus. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience using Clonezilla.
