Mischief Software
Mischief software is a drawing, painting, and sketching program that lets users sketch freely on a canvas that can be scrolled and zoomed almost without limits. Unlike traditional raster painting tools, Mischief is based on Adaptively Sampled Distance Fields (ADF) technology, so strokes stay smooth at any zoom level and drawing files remain small. The program was acquired by Foundry in 2014; development stopped after 2016, and Foundry officially discontinued Mischief in 2019.
The main benefit of Mischief is its near-infinite canvas that can be zoomed without losing stroke quality, so sketches never run out of space.
Features
Mischief software has a set of features that make it a good choice for quick sketches, notes and concept drawings. Here are some of the features that make Mischief software stand out:
• Infinite Canvas: Mischief software has an infinite canvas feature that allows you to create art without any size or dimension limitations. You can zoom far in to add fine detail or zoom out to see the whole composition.
• Pressure Sensitivity: Mischief supports pen pressure, so brush size and opacity follow the pressure of a graphics tablet such as a Wacom pen. This makes it easy to create art that looks like it was done with traditional tools.
• Layer Support: The paid version of Mischief allows you to create multiple layers for your artwork. This makes it easy to make changes or adjustments to your artwork without having to start from scratch. The free version works without layers.
• Brush Library: The free version offers three tools - pencil, pen and marker - with adjustable size and opacity, while the paid version adds more brush presets and a full color palette.
• Image Import and Export: You can import pictures and draw over them, and export the visible part of the canvas as PNG, JPEG or PSD files. Drawings are saved in Mischief's own .art format.
• Compatibility: Mischief software was released for both Mac and Windows computers.
• Customizable Interface: Mischief lets you show or hide the color panel, brush panel and toolbar, hide the whole interface with the Tab key and make the window semi-transparent for tracing.
• Status: Mischief is no longer developed or supported, and its official website has been shut down.
Mischief software is a good choice for anyone who wants a lightweight sketching tool with an unusually large canvas and a very simple interface. Keep in mind that it is discontinued, so it receives no updates or bug fixes.
