PDF Resize from Traction Software is a command-line tool that changes the page size of existing PDF documents, for example to enlarge every page to 200% or to fit all pages to A4 or Letter for printing. It works on the page dimensions only: the program does not compress the file or remove information, so text and images stay as they were. Scaling can be applied to all pages or only to odd or even pages.
PDF Resize has no graphical interface; it is controlled by simple command line parameters, which makes it suitable for scripts, batch files and server jobs. A typical call names the input file, the output file and an option such as -scale200, -page A4 or -pagesize with exact dimensions in points. Adobe Acrobat is not required, and the tool can also process a list of files in one run. The product is now listed as discontinued on the Traction Software website.
Features:
PDF Resize changes the page size of PDF documents in batch, without Adobe Acrobat and without losing any content.
PDF Resize is aimed at users who need to prepare PDF files for printing or publishing on a different paper size without opening each document by hand. Besides Windows, Traction Software offered versions for Linux, macOS, Sun Solaris, AIX and HP-UX, and a 64-bit build was added later. The trial version applies a random page size to one of the first pages, so clean output requires a registered license. Full HTML help comes with the program. Because it runs from the command line, PDF Resize can also be called from other programs or scheduled tasks on a server. Development has ended, so no new versions are expected.
