VB-Cable lets Windows users send sound produced by one program into another program that accepts audio input. This can help when capturing a media player's sound in recording software, feeding a browser's audio into a call, or passing game sound to a streaming application. The connection stays within the computer, with no physical cable involved.

After installation, Windows lists the driver among its available sound devices. Choose its playback endpoint in the program producing audio, then choose its recording endpoint in the program receiving it. Device selection and level adjustments take place in Windows or the applications themselves rather than a separate desktop window. The driver supports MME, KS, DX, WaveRT and WASAPI interfaces.
