Viddly YouTube Downloader

Viddly is a desktop YouTube downloader and converter for Windows and macOS developed by Vitzo. It saves videos from YouTube to the computer so that they can be watched offline, without pre-roll ads, or kept as a backup in case they are removed from the site.

The program has a simple main window with a single input field. The user can type a keyword to search YouTube from inside the application or paste a video URL; Viddly recognizes valid links automatically and offers to start the download. Next to the field, a drop-down list selects the output type, and separate buttons start the download as video or as audio.

Videos can be downloaded in a wide range of resolutions, at 24, 30 or 60 frames per second, and spherical 360-degree videos are supported as well. Viddly converts videos to MP4, WebM, 3GP or AVI, either during the download or later with the local file conversion feature.

The developer advises against installing downloader APK files on Android phones and recommends moving downloaded videos to a phone through a synced cloud storage folder such as Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. YouTube subtitles can be downloaded in any available language, and YouTube Shorts are supported too.

Viddly saves videos in MP4, WebM, 3GP and AVI formats rather than FLV or MKV, so the files play in standard players and on most devices.

The free version downloads videos up to 1080p (Full HD) and audio up to 128 Kbps, and it limits the recording of YouTube live streams to 5 minutes. The Window menu includes a Bulk download command, and the Settings menu lets the user choose whether to be asked for a file name and folder for each download.

The paid Viddly Plus subscription adds 4K and 8K downloads at 60 fps, automatic download when a URL is copied, downloading of whole playlists and channels, unlimited live stream recording, simultaneous downloads and an ad-free experience on multiple devices. The Windows version requires 64-bit Windows 10 or later, and the Mac version requires macOS 12 Monterey or later.

Viddly lets you keep your favourite YouTube videos offline on a Windows or Mac computer, without ads and in the quality you choose.
