VSPlayer

VSPlayer is a free video player from Hikvision, a manufacturer of video surveillance equipment. It is designed for playing video recorded by Hikvision DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras, as well as online streams, and adds tools that are useful when reviewing surveillance footage, such as clipping, merging, transcoding and privacy masking. Hikvision recordings often use formats such as Smart264 and H.265, and general-purpose players such as VLC Media Player may not open them correctly, which is why Hikvision provides its own player.

VSPlayer allows users to play, clip, merge and convert surveillance video recorded by Hikvision devices in one program.

• Local and online playback: VSPlayer plays local video files as well as online streaming video from Hikvision devices.

• Video formats: The player supports video in H.264, Smart264, H.265, SVAC and MPEG4 formats.

• Surveillance recordings: Files exported from Hikvision DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras can be opened directly.

• Play control: The control bar offers play, pause, stop, frame-by-frame stepping and slow or fast playback.

• Accurate positioning: The playback point can be set precisely by frame or by time.

• Privacy mask: Selected areas of a video can be covered with a privacy mask.

• Snapshots: Single frames or a continuous series of frames can be captured from the video.

• VCA information: The player can display video content analytics data recorded by smart cameras.

• Fisheye expansion: Recordings from fisheye cameras can be expanded into a normal view.

• Video clipping: A selected part of a recording can be saved as a separate file.

• Merging: Several video files can be merged into a single, longer video file.

• Transcoding: Recordings can be converted to another format so they can be played in other media players.

• Watermark support: The player supports watermarked recordings from Hikvision devices.

• Encrypted files: Encrypted video files can be played after entering the correct key.

• Languages: The interface language can be changed from the main menu.

• Settings and help: The main menu gives access to the settings, the user manual and the About box.

• Editions: Separate 32-bit and 64-bit editions of VSPlayer are available from Hikvision's download portal.

• Updates: The player is actively maintained; version 7.5.3.1 was released in November 2025.

VSPlayer is a practical tool for security installers, system administrators and anyone who needs to review footage exported from a Hikvision recorder. The player is free to download from Hikvision's official HiTools portal, and its use is subject to the Hikvision Materials License Agreement.
