Computer Geek's Calculator

As a math teacher and a geek, I really love Computer Geek's Calculator. It's a handy and simple application that I find myself coming back to every time I need to solve a tricky equation. I've implemented it on all of my student's computers, and while it may seem old and boring, it gets the job done. Nearly all my students aren't distracted by anything else but the calculator itself. I have banned the use of our TI-84 calculators because kids were playing downloaded games like Pokemon on them. Computer Geek's Calculator has shown great promise in my classroom. The kids are actually using the calculator application and getting their problems figured with the help of it. The interface itself is dated, but it gives me a nostalgic feel back to the late 90s and early 2000s. I enjoy using it. Since it's so simple, it doesn't take up much system usage on my computer. There are multiple different modes on the program, as well as different features to calculate various statistics.

This application is also useful for programming. That's actually how I heard about it through a few friends that were using it on their programming project. Once I messed with it a bit, I realized how genius it was.

The application is easy to install, easy to use, and learn too. It does feature keyboard support, so you don't have to use a trackpad or mouse. One of my favorite tools is the register feature that allows you to save up to 16 calculations so that you can revisit them if you need it. This is very useful for my class since many of my students are repeating similar problems. This allows them to recall what they were calculating early during the lesson. It's saved me a lot of time in having to re-explain or show them how to calculate math problems over and over again.  

If you want a simple yet super useful calculator, this is the program for you. Computer Geek's Calculator has given me a new appreciation for simplistic applications. It's turned my classroom around, as well as my motivation to actually want to teach my students. I really can't believe how much it has changed the entire mood of my class lessons.  They finally use their calculators properly! Go give this calculator a try.
