Enigmail is a supplement to Mozilla Thunderbird and SeaMonkey mail clients, giving users access to the authentication (authentication) and encryption of information provided by GnuPG. Thus, Enigmail allows Mozilla Thunderbird and SeaMonkey to receive or transmit an encrypted signature and/or message using the OpenPGP standard. In order to ensure the crypto-function, GnuPG version 1.4.9 or 2.0.9 is also required, but the recommended version is GnuPG 2.x.
One main benefit of Enigmail is that it enhances email security by providing encryption and authentication of information on Thunderbird and SeaMonkey mail clients.
