Melodyne

Melodyne is a software that allows you to manipulate audio signals, especially a singer's vocals. Melodyne works with detected notes, shown as blobs, rather than waveforms to alter the intonation of vocals and musical instruments. The software allows individuals to edit and manipulate the pitch, duration, volume and formants of notes, among other important technological features.

Melodyne is commercial software; a fully functional 30-day trial of Melodyne 5 studio is available from the Celemony website. The current version, Melodyne 5, runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 as well as on macOS. It is sold in four editions: Melodyne essential, assistant, editor and studio, each adding functions to the smaller one. Direct Note Access, which allows independent manipulation of individual notes within chords and polyphonic recordings, was introduced in 2009 and is available in the editor and studio editions. Melodyne 5 added sibilant detection, a Fade Tool, a Leveling Macro and a Chord Track.

The software has won several awards, including the 2009 MIPA Award for Most Innovative Product and the Special Merit/Technical Grammy Award for its "contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field" at the 54th Grammy Awards.
