Plugins are available from both NextPVR and users. These plugins allow for a range of added features and functionality, such as the ability to play Blu-ray videos or the ability to launch programs and emulators from within NextPVR.

Users can customize or even develop their own skin, allowing the user to control the look of NextPVR.
NextPVR supports a number of clients and extenders, which allows for greater flexibility in where you can access the application. There is an experimental function that can allow the user to leverage a standard HTTP connection to remote into the NxtPVR user interface.
A TV guide will appear onscreen through a default plugin for selecting a show to watch to record. There is also a search functionality that lists shows ready to record in alphabetical order. There is a screen under “Recordings” that the user can navigate to in order to play back recordings. NextPVR allows for the ability to record multiple shows from a single source.
NextPVR gives the user the ability to watch and pause live tv. The user can press “Pause”, which will start recording the show, and the user can resume in the same place they left off at.
There is functionality to browse and listen to music from a playlist. It is able to play back almost any type of audio file or playlist file. A list of keyboard shortcuts will allow for the quick shuffle, pause, or play music.
Users can browse photos and videos, even videos that were not recorded with NextPVR.

NextPVR for Windows is a great product. I like having something to be able to easily record live TV, without having to worry about the cost of a DVR. Since this is free, it will save me a lot of money. And the fact that it has other features, like web scheduling, is a nice added bonus that will also come in handy.

I can't believe I didn't find this sooner! NextPVR is just plain wonderful! I now have a better way to watch my tv shows that I missed while I was working. Now this was a bit complicated at first to get it set up, but it all paid off when I figured it out. No longer do I have to worry about missing my shows, this takes care of it by recording it for me! I absolutely love the fact that I can also use this on my mobile devices as well as on my windows pc. While I have not yet tried this software on my smartphone yet, I heard that it works great, I'll have to check it out. I would totally recommend NextPVR to anyone who has a tricky schedule.
