PlayMemories Home is a program that will be especially useful for people who store a large number of photos and videos on their hard drives. It allows you to easily merge multimedia content into collections and folders, browse files by date in a calendar view, sort them by labels, rating, file type or camera, organize them and perform a number of other actions with them, which are described below. PlayMemories Home includes a tool to import photos and videos from Sony cameras and other devices, sorting them into folders by the date taken. The program could also upload photos to the PlayMemories Online storage and share links with friends, but Sony shut that service down in February 2024, so these online functions no longer work.

PlayMemories Home can be used as a photo viewer. You can associate individual file formats with the program in the settings window. The program also supports the basic functions of the photo and video editor. Among them: image rotation, resizing, cropping, brightness and saturation correction and date insertion, as well as trimming and "merging" video clips. Unfortunately, there are no advanced editing functions such as effect filters in the program. The PlayMemories Home interface is simple and carefully designed by the developer. It consists of a tree-like navigation bar with the photo folders and devices, a toolbar and an image viewer. Other features of PlayMemories Home that may be useful for you include creating discs, developing RAW images, setting up photo printing, slideshows and e-mailing media files; uploads to YouTube and Facebook have been discontinued. You can download and use the program absolutely free of charge; the current 64-bit version supports Windows 11, and for RAW work Sony now recommends Imaging Edge Desktop.
