Redmine for Windows is a cloud-based web app that is ideal for tracking and managing project issues and bugs. It is an entirely free, open-source, cross-platform application written with Ruby on Rails. Redmine is one of the most customizable project management applications out there. There are no paid options, and the application is maintained by a community of volunteers.
Out of the box, Redmine excels at tracking bugs and issues and other software development tasks. It is focused on helping programmers share, discuss, track, and troubleshoot computer code for a project.
Redmine's interface is simple and text-based but can be customized to fit your needs. New issues and tasks can be classified as support requests, bug issues, or feature requests. Additional information includes subjects, description, priority, status, and start and due dates. Issues and tasks can also be associated with a parent-child format tree. Redmine also supports file uploads and updates notifications to team members who need to be kept in the loop.
Redmine may be free and capable, but be warned, setting it up, customizing it, and maintaining it will require some expertise. If your project team doesn't include that kind of skill set, you may find yourself with some added project expenditures.
