Sibelius is a music notation (scorewriter) software designed with the needs of musicians and composers in mind. Developed by Avid, Sibelius lets you compose, play back, record, share, print and listen to scores of original music. Sibelius is easy to learn and use, but provides you with advanced tools for engraving and arranging complex scores and music.

Sibelius is packed with features for musicians and composers to use when writing music. Its Sibelius Sounds library lets you combine many instruments in rich and complex scores featuring a variety of sounds. Companion applications such as AudioScore Lite and PhotoScore Lite make composing even easier with Sibelius. AudioScore allows you to add notes simply by playing them on an instrument or singing them into a microphone, and PhotoScore scans printed sheet music.

Sibelius allows for high quality playback of the compositions you have written, so you can hear how your music will sound and edit it as needed. You can also share it with others online for instant feedback and input from other users and musicians, and exchange scores with other notation programs through MusicXML.

Sibelius can be purchased through a subscription. Alternatively, a perpetual license can be purchased so that you own the software. Sibelius First is a free entry-level edition with a limited feature set. If you need even more advanced features than Sibelius Artist offers, Sibelius Ultimate is offered as an upgrade for professionals and educators, with an unlimited number of staves and more than 140 plug-ins. Sibelius runs on Windows and macOS.
