Effectrix

Effectrix (Windows) by Sugar Bytes is a multi-effect sequencer that allows a user to shape contemporary music tracks via a sequencer. It includes multi-effects such as scratching, looping, and reverse and stretching, which can all be applied in real time. 

Its main features include an easy interface where the user simply paints colored blocks across a sequencer to add effects to the audio. The effect tracks on the left side of the interface include tools beyond looping and scratching, like:

Effectrix also has a 32-step sequencer with a tempo divider, two modulation tracks, hundreds of global and per-effect presets, unique parameters per effect, copy and paste and chaos buttons, a swing feature, recall of 12 patterns with a MIDI keyboard, and 14 effects from classic to advanced. All of these features make the system useful in many ways, because it is full of high-quality effects, it is easy to use and songs can be processed quickly. According to Sugar Bytes, it is used by artists such as Sigur Ros, Armin van Buuren and Diplo. A user can simply begin mixing the effects and easily see their work through the use of brightly displayed blocks, representing the various effects that have been inserted. The standalone version also includes an audio player and recorder, so a file can be loaded and processed without a host. The sequential modulation means that each effect can have two modulation tracks which can be controlled by LFO, envelope follower or external MIDI hardware. Up to twelve varying sequences can be stored within a single Effectrix preset so the user can go back and forth between the external MIDI keyboard and the on screen controls. It can be synced easily with DAWs and DJ software as well, and patterns can be assigned to any other MIDI input, which could really enhance stage shows. Effectrix makes it easy to work with beats, make unique rhythms, and reverse, stretch, scratch and loop parts of a track. On Windows it runs as a VST2, VST3 or AAX plug-in or as a standalone application, and the original Effectrix is still sold next to its successor, Effectrix 2.
