Considered by many to be one of the best real-time strategy games ever made, Starcraft 2 is a science-fiction game from Blizzard Entertainment that lets the user command three races, play several modes and explore the galaxy in many different ways. The story is divided into three chapters, Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void, plus the Nova Covert Ops mission packs; they were first released one after another and are now all available in the same game client.

The Wings of Liberty campaign puts the player in charge of the Terran rebels led by Jim Raynor, one of the heroes of the first StarCraft, who now commands his own group of mercenaries. Users will have to juggle the big picture economy and micro-level unit control, which tests both their strategic and tactical abilities.

To conquer the galaxy, the user has to construct a base by gathering minerals and vespene gas in order to build production and defensive structures and upgrade their technology. They then spend minerals and vespene gas on building an army and increasing its power. Finally, the player rides into battle, deploying their forces with creativity and finesse to overcome opponents.

Blizzard stopped producing new content for the game in 2020 but still publishes balance updates.
