Visio Professional 2013

Visio Professional 2013 for Windows is a diagramming and vector graphics application from Microsoft that allows a user to easily and creatively create diagrams, flowcharts, and organizational charts, and then share them with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite. Compared with the 2010 version, it offers refreshed templates, shapes, themes and styles, so you can create professional diagrams faster and easier than before. Visio helps with vital tasks such as identifying errors, standardizing processes, and identifying redundancies, and Visio Professional 2013 is no exception. Microsoft Visio has a wide range of uses and can be used in chemical engineering, analyzing business strategies, or software engineering. Visio Professional 2013 is sold as a paid perpetual licence, and Microsoft ended support for it in April 2023. Additionally, the Professional version provides features that make it easier for users to connect diagrams to data sources such as Excel, SQL Server and SharePoint lists, as well as the ability to display data visually with data graphics. The Professional version features additional diagram types such as BPMN, UML and engineering diagrams, and even validation rules and subprocesses.

Visio 2010 saved drawings mainly in the binary VSD format, with the XML-based VDX format as an option. Visio 2013 introduced the new VSDX and VSDM (macro-enabled) formats, based on XML and Open Packaging Conventions. It can still open VDX files but no longer saves them. Because VSDX files are ZIP-compressed, they are much smaller than uncompressed VDX files. 

Visio Professional 2013 also supports co-authoring and comments, so several people can work on the same diagram, and diagrams can be viewed in a web browser through Visio Services in SharePoint.
