VOVSOFT - M3U8 Downloader

M3U8 Downloader is a small Windows program from Vovsoft designed to help you download HLS video streams described by M3U8 playlists. It can be used for saving live video streams, video files and audio files from websites that deliver their media through M3U8 links.

• Easy to use: M3U8 Downloader is easy to use and user-friendly. You paste the M3U8 URL of a stream, choose the destination folder and click the Download button.

Saves HLS streams from M3U8 links as a single MP4, MKV, MOV, TS or WebM file on your computer.

• Fragment joining: HLS splits a video into many small chunks. M3U8 Downloader downloads all the fragments of the stream and joins them into one large video file.

• Multiple formats: M3U8 Downloader saves streams as MP4, MKV, MOV, TS or WebM files; older formats such as FLV are not offered.

• FFmpeg encoding: The program uses the open-source FFmpeg tool to join and encode the downloaded fragments, which keeps the quality of the original stream.

• Live streams: M3U8 Downloader can also save live streams. The MKV format is recommended for them because it is more resistant to corruption.

• Local M3U8 files: The program can read a downloaded M3U8 file and fetch the media it points to, as long as the URLs inside it are still available.

• Finding the link: The M3U8 URL of a stream can be found in the Network tab of the browser developer tools or with a browser extension; many links expire, so a fresh URL is needed.

• Portable version: Besides the installer, a portable edition is available that runs without installation.

• Windows only: M3U8 Downloader is a desktop program for Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11; there are no Mac, Linux or mobile versions.

• Status: The program is no longer listed on the Vovsoft website; the last known version is 2.6 from March 2023.

• Licence: M3U8 Downloader is listed as freeware by download portals.
