WuMgr

WuMgr (Update Manager for Windows) is an open source tool for managing Windows Updates, written in .NET by David Xanatos and released under the GPL v3 license. It uses the Windows Update Agent API to find, download and install missing updates, and it is designed to give Windows 10 users the fine control over updates that Windows 7 and 8.1 offered.

Features:

• Search and Download Updates: WuMgr checks Microsoft servers for missing updates and lists them grouped by category, such as security updates, feature packs, update rollups and critical updates. Updates can be downloaded without being installed right away.

WuMgr provides an easy way to manage, monitor, and optimize your Windows Update process.

• Install Updates: WuMgr enables users to install the selected updates with a single click and leave the others for later. An option for manual download and installation of update files is also available.

• Uninstall Updates: WuMgr allows users to uninstall installed updates directly from the application. This allows users to easily remove updates that cause problems.

• View Update History: WuMgr shows the Windows Update history with the date and result of each operation, including succeeded and failed updates. This allows users to easily troubleshoot problems with Windows Updates.

• Hide Updates: Unwanted updates can be hidden so that they are no longer offered, and restored from the Hidden Updates list at any time.

• Update Sources: Besides Windows Update, the tool can register Microsoft Update and search the Windows Store (DCat) sources. An offline mode scans the system with the wsusscn2.cab catalog file.

• Auto Update Settings: The Auto Update tab can disable automatic updates, switch Windows Update to notification only or download only mode, set a scheduled installation, block access to Windows Update servers, hide the Windows Update settings page and disable Store auto updates.

• Download Links: The direct download links of selected updates can be copied, so the files can be fetched with a browser or a download manager.

• Background Mode: WuMgr can run in the background with a tray icon and search for new updates automatically.

• Portable: WuMgr is distributed as a ZIP archive and can be used without installation. This makes it easier to use on multiple systems. The last release, version 1.1, was published in 2019.
