4K Downloader

4K Downloader is a Windows application from 4K Software for downloading and converting Ultra HD videos from YouTube and other video streaming sites. It can save videos in UHD 8K, 4K, QHD 2K, Full HD 1080p, HD 720p and 3D when the source offers them, and it can also download only the audio stream without fetching the whole video file.

Adding a download is simple: click the Add Download button, or drag a video link from your browser and drop it on the Drop Box of 4K Downloader. An acceleration engine is designed to download videos up to five times faster, downloads can be paused, resumed or cancelled at any time, and a Preview button plays an incomplete file so you can check that it is the right video.

After downloading, the program can convert videos automatically and optimize them for portable devices. The documented output formats are MP4, FLV, WMV, MOV, AVI, MPG, VOB, WEBM, DVD and VCD; MKV is not named in that list. Audio can be extracted from a video and saved as WAV, WMA, AC3, AAC, OGG, FLAC or MP2.

4K Downloader is shareware: the trial can be used for a limited period, and a licence is sold as a yearly or multi-year subscription. The official page names YouTube as the main source and refers to other streaming sites only in general terms; audio services such as SoundCloud are not listed.
