DipTrace Free is a software that is specifically designed for real hardcore computer enthusiasts. This software lets you design and builds your computer from scratch. By scratch, I mean literally circuit but circuit! Now as cool as that might sound, it isn't if you have no remote understanding of circuitry. The program has an extreme learning curve that will send most amateurs screaming for the hills. I would strongly suggest viewing some online tutorials before picking this little gem up. Difficulties aside, if you know what you are doing with this program you can design some seriously impressive computers.
Features:
Like I said before, the results are amazing if you know what you are doing with DipTrace Free. The learning curve can be steep even so seasoned veterans. However, you'll get the hang of it much sooner than any beginner. The best feature of DipTrace Free, in my opinion, is the software's ability to automatically suggest the best possible circuits. This makes the design process much easier and semi-automated. You can focus more on what you want to build the system for, and the program can be set to select the proper components automatically every time. This is mostly to cut down on design time, but if you are like me you will probably want to take a little more time with the designing process.
The next best feature is going to be it's drag and drop interface. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the program when I accidentally dragged a component around from the menus on the left of the interface. Ever since I discovered it, I've been using it religiously ever since. All in all, I like the program. It's free, and I get some very impressive designs. However, I can't state enough that this is a program that will get on your last nerve if you have no idea what you are doing.
Plan and design your computer from scratch in just a few minutes.
