Ears Audio Toolkit - Equalizer and Volume Booster for Chrome

Ears Audio Toolkit, published in the Chrome Web Store as "Ears: Bass Boost, EQ Any Audio!", is a free browser extension by Vaux Audio that works as a real-time graphic equalizer and volume booster for audio playing in Google Chrome tabs. It is not a standalone Windows program: it runs inside the browser and changes the sound of videos, music, streams and web calls on any website that plays audio in a tab. The extension was built on Manifest V2, and its original Chrome Web Store listing is no longer available, so current Chrome versions cannot install it from the store.

Ears Audio Toolkit lets you boost bass, cut harsh highs and raise the volume of any audio playing in a Chrome tab in real time.

Features:

• Per-tab equalizer: When you click the Ears icon, the current tab is added to the extension. To add another tab, open it and click the icon again; each tab is switched on with "EQ This Tab" and off with "Stop EQing This Tab".

• Movable filter points: The equalizer shows a row of dots on a frequency scale from 5 Hz to about 20 kHz. Moving a dot left or right selects a lower or higher frequency, and moving it up or down boosts or cuts that frequency.

• Shelf and notch filters: According to the built-in guide, the purple dots act as shelf filters and the blue dots act as notch filters. Shift-dragging a dot up or down widens or narrows the filter by changing its Q value.

• Volume control: A separate volume slider raises or lowers the overall output level of the tab, which helps with quiet videos and recordings.

• Spectrum visualizer: A real-time frequency spectrum shows what you are listening to and how your EQ settings have changed it, with lower sounds on the left and higher sounds on the right.

• Presets: You can save the current curve under a name, delete presets, reset all filters, and export or import presets to move them to another browser or computer.

• Bass Boost: A predefined Bass Boost preset is available with one click for users who simply want more low-end sound.

• Active Tabs view: A separate tab in the extension window shows the browser tabs that are currently being equalized.

• Built-in guide: The Guide tab explains how the filters, the spectrum visualizer and the presets work, with links to a demo and a guide about filters.

• Full window mode: The extension panel can be opened in a full browser window for more precise work with the filter points.

• Licence: Ears is free to use; the developer accepts optional donations through a "Buy me a coffee" link in the extension window.

• Status: The last version of the original extension is 1.3.12, released in April 2023. Because Chrome has phased out Manifest V2 extensions, it is no longer offered in the Chrome Web Store.
