The main screen shows your contacts and their online status. If you know somebody's information, you can add them right away without having to go through additional steps. This makes staying in touch with people very easy and straightforward. On the same screen, it shows whether that person is online or offline. You'll be able to initiate a chat with anyone right from that screen. You can also set up custom alerts from here to let you know when a person gets online or when they go back offline. This is very useful if you have someone that you need to talk with but are unsure of their schedule.
