KDE Connect is developed by the KDE community, represented by KDE e.V., and connects computers, phones and tablets so that they can work together. Besides Linux, where it originated, it is available for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. The Windows version pairs the PC with a device that runs the KDE Connect app, and communication takes place over the local Wi-Fi connection with TLS encryption.

Lets the phone and the PC exchange files, clipboard contents and notifications over Wi-Fi.

Once two devices are paired, files and links can be sent in either direction, the clipboard is shared, and the phone storage can be browsed from the PC. Android notifications appear on the desktop, and the phone can act as a touchpad, a presentation remote or a remote control for media players. Media is paused automatically during calls, predefined commands can be run on the PC remotely, and a misplaced phone can be made to ring. The software is free and open source.

Features:

  • Shared clipboard between paired devices
  • File and link transfer in both directions
  • Phone notifications on the desktop
  • Phone as touchpad and presentation remote
  • Remote control of media playback
  • TLS-encrypted connection over Wi-Fi
