Koala for Windows is a GUI application (Graphical User Interface) that provides support for web developers. GUIs allow users to work with electronic devices through the use of graphical icons and audio signals instead of text-based user interfaces, navigation, and command labels. Koala for Windows provides multi-language support for programming languages like Compass Framework, Coffeescript, Less, and Sass. The application assists users in their projects by making a global configuration with the matching compiler options for every file.
Koala uses a real-time compilation of codes written in programming languages, turning them into the standard form. Koala does this through listening files, the automatic compile of files when they are modified, and working in the background automatically. Koala also notifies users if an error should occur during compilation, via a message that will appear on the user's screen.
The installation of Koala for Windows is easy. All you do is download the Koala set-up and then double click on the set-up button. A screen will pop up asking you to confirm the installation. Then just follow the instructions provided. Once installed, grab any folder you have created using Lass, Sass, Coffeescript, or other language files and drop the folder into the Koala project window. Then a list will pop up, letting you know what files are supported from that folder.
Koala does offer some customizable elements for file output. If you click on the "gear" icon in the sidebar, a dialogue box will appear. To the box's left, there will be a list of customizable elements for the application and a list of all the languages Koala supports. Customizable options include Source Map for debugging, Line comments to see source lines in the CSS, Debug info (which is the error messages), adjustments to the Math and Units based on how you want the output of the operation to appear, and the option of normal or compressed styles for debugging. Koala also allows the user to customize through Project Settings, mostly by selecting what programming language the user is using.
