Outlook on Desktop

Outlook for Windows desktop is an application that will allow you to access your Outlook email, contacts, calendar, and so much more. Its a great business application allowing for full integration within a company. Outlook can help you upload documents on your one drive to share with colleagues. It will keep a list of all company contacts so you can easily email documents and set up meetings without having to pick up the phone and call someone. Setting up meetings is particularly easy - you pick a date and time and send out an invitation to those colleagues that need to attend. They will get an email invite that they have to confirm, and the meeting is automatically placed on their calendar once they confirm the date and time. Outlook also allows users to share calendars, so it makes it easy to be able to pick a meeting time that is available for all participants. 

Outlook is a very secure piece of software. A lot of emails that you get are identified as junk right away and goes to your junk mailbox. This means that you don't have to spend time each day trying to weed out things that are spam, or just don't apply to you. Once a week, you can go in and look at the junk mail and delete everything. Outlook also has varying levels of authentification, making it harder for people to hack into it, keeping your confidential communications safe. 

The calendar feature is extremely helpful. You can add your own events to it (doctors appointments, dinner dates, anniversaries, etc.) as well as meetings and events for the company. The calendar will also give you warnings about when something is coming up and will pop up a box on your screen and say "5 minutes till this meeting". That's really helpful when you have been engrossed in something, and time gets away from you. It's also really helpful for remembering you need to do something, but that item doesn't need to be completed for a week or more. You can place a reminder appointment on the calendar, so you continually see it there, and don't forget you need to accomplish the task.
