I'm a math teacher that makes my students use Microsoft Word for their homework assignments, and WordMat has helped both my entire class and me so much. If you aren't familiar with WordMat, it is a mathematical equation calculator for Windows. If you have the program installed, every time you open up Word, a calculator will be accessible whenever you need it. Before I use this program, my students were always turning in incorrect work. I think this was mainly due to the fact that they weren't using their calculators while they were on Word. They must have been too lazy to get it out of their backpacks or something. Now that they have a built-in calculator right next to their homework assignments, I've noticed significant improvements in homework. WordMat can do everything from simple calculations to geometry, complex numbers, regression, and even graphing!
The amount of detail and effort put into this application is simply amazing. It can portray nearly any math equation within Word through it. I noticed many of my students would not only submit incorrect work but also work that was not correctly formatted mathematically. When I introduced this tool to my class months ago, most of these problems were gone. It says a lot about how easy to use this program is since most of my students seem unwilling to try and learn new things. The application is streamlined amazingly within Word. It isn't clunky or annoying to have to use. At first, I was doubtful that this WordMat would work for my style of teaching, but as soon as I saw it, I made all students download it.
If you want a calculator add-on and do a lot of mathematical related content in Microsoft Word, this application can help you to the highest degree. It's been so useful for both my class and I. I would have a lot of students that weren't doing mathematical equations correctly if it wasn't for this program. I was really worried about my students before finding WordMat. They have made a huge turnaround in performance and have helped me push even further to try and help them in any way that I can. I am so happy for both of them and future students that will use this application in my class. It may be the ultimate math tool for Word. Check it out.
