Avro Keyboard for Windows is a Unicode and ANSI-compliant Free Bengali typing software and spell checker. It was first published on the 26th March 2003 and is the first software of its kind. It comes with many additional features and is provided in a standard installer edition and a portable edition for Windows.
The software has a customizable mode for a large field of compatibility. Users have full access to all popular Bengali typing methods, such as phonetic typing, mouse typing, and traditional fixed keyboard-based typing. The spell checking feature is also favored with spell check on the fly (for phonetic typing) and a spell checker plugin for Microsoft Word.
The portable edition (also free) was released later and did not need any installation or access as an administrator. It is also suitable to carry in portable media (such as a USB drive) and has a built-in 'automatic virtual font installer.'
Avro Keyboard has been certified as clean from all spyware, adware, and viruses and additionally has been added to the online solution directory of Microsoft for Indic language input.

This application also has a built-in spell checker. It comes in two editions. If the user wants to install it on their computer, they use the standalone installer version. But if the user only wants to use it as a portable application tool, then they simply use the portable version.
Avro Keyboard works flawlessly on Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, Notepad, etc. The most amazing thing is it can use Unicode and ANSI. This software is also completely free software. Users also get the option of mouse-based Bengali typing. Any user can customize their keyboard layout if they use a different keyboard.
Additionally, this software also supports direct Avro to Bijoy conversion in the application.

I use Avro Keyboard a lot as I am a second generation immigrant, (my parents immigrated to the US), and I never had the chance to fully learn Bengali. I can speak the language decently well, but I, like many of my friends, have never learned to write properly. Avro makes it a lot easier with its English to Bengali phonetic typing feature, and allows me to communicate to all my relatives.
