ByteFence Anti-Malware is a malware scanner that detects the presence of various types of threats on your computer and can also protect your computer in real time. It is by no means a full-fledged antivirus, but is positioned as some kind of "assistant" to the latter. As practice shows, the scanner often detects potential threats and suspicious files that miss the usual antivirus software. ByteFence Anti-Malware's work as a "background" has almost no effect on system performance.
The antivirus scanner is started by pressing the big "Scan" button. As is customary with this type of software, you need to select one of three modes before starting the test: fast scanning, full scanning and random scanning. ByteFence Anti-Malware also adds its own item to the explorer's context menu, which allows you to quickly run the scan of an individual file or folder.
In addition to threat scanning, the scanner can also combat the deliberate change of the browser home page, malicious extensions and other malware impacts. ByteFence Anti-Malware works with Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Microsoft Edge. Detailed information about the performed operations and scanner operation is saved in the "Statistics" section. If desired, you can save the reports in the usual text formats.
The program is paid for. As a free alternative, we can advise Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and AdwCleaner.
