DirectShow FilterPack
A free package of DirectShow filters for playing audio and video formats on Windows
DirectShow FilterPack is a small set of filters (splitters and decoders) that will allow you to play different music and video formats in DirectShow media players. Initially, you can already play MP3 music, because Fraunhofer MP3 decoder is installed together with Windows.
But unlike MP3 files, Windows doesn't know how to handle Vorbis audio, for example. With OGG Splitter (plus FFDShow), Windows can handle Vorbis Audio.
Earlier releases of this filter package were designed to work with FFDShow. FFDShow is a very powerful DirectShow filter for audio and video decompression, such as DivX / XviD and Vorbis / AAC, but it can also do much more. The final version is built around LAV Filters, with DC-Bass, TAK, CDDA and CDXA source filters and the DirectShow Filter Manager for managing filters. Thus, you can install a single DirectShow FilterPack, instead of some other filter packages that install more than one filter for the same purpose. The pack is no longer developed.
