EasyTether

EasyTether is an application that makes it simple to share the Internet connection of an Android smartphone with a Windows computer. The app runs on the phone, and a small driver package on the PC connects to it over a USB cable or Bluetooth, so the computer goes online through the phone's mobile data. It is developed by Mobile Stream and works without root access on the phone.

EasyTether lets a Windows PC go online through the phone's existing data plan over USB or Bluetooth, with no root access and no extra tethering fees.

To connect the devices, the EasyTether app is installed on the Android phone and the EasyTether drivers are installed on the Windows computer. After USB debugging is enabled on the phone, the connection is started from the app, and the built-in USB setup wizard gives step-by-step help for Windows, OS X, Android tablets and Unix-like systems. Samsung and LG phones need an additional Windows-only driver, which is also offered on the official site. 

EasyTether implements USB tethering on its own instead of relying on the phone's built-in hotspot, which helps avoid limitations imposed by the carrier. Game consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox and Wii can also go online through the Internet Connection Sharing feature of a Windows PC or Mac. The Lite version blocks secure HTTPS sites, so it is mainly a way to test compatibility with your phone and carrier before buying; the full version removes this limit. The current Windows drivers require the phone app version 1.1.15 or later. Mobile Stream also offers EasyTether for BlackBerry.
