Embird 2019

Embird is a professional application for managing and editing machine embroidery designs, with optional plug-ins for digitizing, lettering and cross stitch. The program can greatly facilitate the work on embroidery designs: it can change ready-made designs, join and split them, resize them with density adjustment and print them out. It reads and writes more than 70 embroidery and quilting formats, including PES, HUS, JEF, DST and VIP, so designs can be used with most home and industrial embroidery machines. It is also possible to save design documentation as BMP or JPG images.

The basic program works in two modes. Embird Manager is the working area of the program: here you browse and organize designs, view them in several modes (normal, 1:1 scale, photo-realistic 3D stitches, etc.), convert them between formats and open designs stored in ZIP and RAR archives. From the same window you can switch to the Editor, the File Commander and the cloud browser. In the Editor you can insert and delete colors and trims, change the stitch order, merge and split designs, resize, move, rotate, mirror and skew designs or their parts, simulate sewing in 3D and import projects from Embird Studio, Embird Cross Stitch and Sfumato Stitch. Embird supports Amazon and Azure cloud storage and allows you to work with it through a cloud browser, so you can work on your projects without being tied to a single machine. Embird Cross Stitch is an optional plug-in for the main program that creates cross stitch patterns, either automatically from photos or manually by drawing with the mouse, as in a graphics editor. Other plug-ins include Studio for digitizing, Sfumato Stitch for photo-to-embroidery, Font Engine for lettering from TrueType and OpenType fonts, and Iconizer, which shows embroidery files as icons in Windows Explorer.

A beginner may at first be discouraged by the large number of buttons, but the program is not hard to learn, and the detailed help, text tutorials and training videos on the official website make it easier. Embird is paid software developed by BALARAD, s.r.o. since 1997; the basic program and each plug-in are sold separately, and a free trial version is available.
