Fritzing

Fritzing is an electronics design program that grew out of a research project at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and helps turn a prototype into a physical circuit. The application is an open-source (GPL) utility that facilitates the work process of people of different levels (artists, engineers, designers, etc.). The program allows you to create models of printed circuit boards and turn them into real PCBs.

Convenient prototyping tools are designed to make it as easy as possible to turn an idea into a digital project. Each project can be edited in Breadboard, Schematic and PCB views, and a Code view lets you edit Arduino code and upload it to the board. A built-in simulator checks simple DC circuits. The main window of Fritzing shows a breadboard workspace with a parts bin and an Inspector panel. To create a layout, you drag the parts you need onto the board and draw wires between them. Finished boards can be exported as Gerber files for manufacturing; the source code is free, while ready-made installers are offered for a small donation.
