GoPro Quik (Quik for desktop) is a free desktop application from GoPro for Windows and macOS that lets you transfer, organize, edit and share your GoPro videos and photos. With Quik, you can quickly create short edited videos synced to music with just a few clicks of the mouse.
Quik for desktop was the companion app for GoPro cameras on computers. It is no longer developed: GoPro now focuses on the Quik mobile app for iOS and Android, and version 2.7 remains the last desktop release for Windows. With Quik, you can still offload your GoPro footage to your computer, view it, edit it and export the results.
Here are some of the main features of GoPro Quik:
GoPro Quik lets users quickly turn their GoPro footage into edited videos synced to music, ready to share.
Transfer: Quik automatically imports photos and videos from a connected GoPro camera or SD card and organizes them by date and shooting session in a single media library. It can also auto-upload recent footage to a GoPro Plus cloud account.
Editing: Quik trims clips and creates edited videos automatically: choose your footage and a song, and the app syncs the cuts to the beat of the music. HiLight Tags added while shooting help you find the best moments quickly.
Sharing: Finished videos and photos are exported as standard files, ready to be uploaded to YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo and other services or shared with your friends and family.
Advanced Editing: Quik can overlay speed, distance and altitude gauges based on the GPS data recorded by supported cameras, and it turns burst and time-lapse photo sequences into videos with panning effects.
Firmware updates: When a camera is connected, Quik checks for new GoPro firmware and can install the update on the camera.
Compatibility: Quik for desktop was released for both Windows and macOS. The last Windows version needs 64-bit Windows 10, and GoPro has confirmed that no new Quik desktop app for Windows will be released.
These features make GoPro Quik a simple way to import and edit footage from older GoPro cameras on a PC. Because the app is no longer updated, newer camera models and file formats may not be fully supported, and the mobile Quik app and GoPro Player are GoPro's current alternatives.
