Logisim for Windows is a learning tool for students to assist in learning the basics of creating circuits and electrical design. This software is free and quickly downloads. This software makes it easy to create your own circuits.
There are many different tools and views that make this a great way to learn. You can use the wiring tool to draw horizontal or verticle wires and have them connect to the other wires in your circuit. The combinational analysis module lets you convert between circuits. You can copy smaller circuits that you have already created and place them inside of a bigger circuit rather than having to recreate the smaller circuit over and over again. There are components within the software that color code the wires so you can easily see what is what along with there being components for inputs and outputs. Basically, anything you would need to create a real circuit has been thought of and included in this software. It is like creating an actual circuit but so much harder to mess up.
You are able to save your work and can either submit it electronically or print it out to turn it into your professor to show what you are able to create. Many colleges have been using this in their classrooms as a way to teach their students. Odds are if you are going to be going into the electrical design you will be getting very familiar with Logisim. Did I mention it is free? That is such a great perk, it is not very often that you find a great educational tool and it is not going to cost you any money.
This is a great learning tool that is simple to work on and manipulate in order to see how circuits work.
This is a trusted tool that is being used across the country. So what do you have to lose, go ahead and try it already?
Java 5 or later is required to run Logisim.

This is a completely free tool. It gives unlimited access to any user. It allows the users to easily design and simulate the digital logic circuits. It also offers a straightforward and user-friendly interface.
However, the simulation options are currently limited. This application requires Java to run. Also, it works only on the Windows operating system. It does not support the advanced digital circuits.
