Mkvmerge is a multifunctional program for editing MKV (Matroska) files. Easy to use, Russified and completely free of charge.
The main functions of the application allow you to assemble different video and audio tracks into one mkv-container and add subtitles to them. It is also possible to merge or split video and audio files into parts according to a specified size or time period. In addition, you can use the functions of changing the aspect ratio of the picture, adjusting the duration of the file, changing the order of output audio tracks and subtitles, for example, by name, language, tags, etc. Mkvmerge works with video files of different formats, because it has a built-in converter that can convert the original video to mkv format.
Mkvmerge enables easy editing of MKV files, with functionality for merging, splitting, and adjusting video and audio tracks, making multimedia management simpler.
In addition, the Mkvmerge application can be useful in case of desynchronization of sound and picture. The tools available in the program will allow you to quickly eliminate the problem with delayed or advanced sound and to resave the corrected mkv file. Program is cool because you can streamline all videos onto one program. Makes it easy to edit video by shortening if necessary. I can add subtitles to videos if need be also. If videos need to be time constrained, the program allows it to be spliced with both video and audio capabilities.

I can manipulate files in linux even though the software is available on multiple platforms. The collection of tools is so useful. I use mkvextract a lot.
