Samsung AllShare

Samsung AllShare is a free media sharing program for Windows PCs made by Samsung Electronics. It turns the computer into a DLNA media server, so videos, photos and music stored on the PC can be played on other devices in the same home network, such as Samsung TVs, phones, tablets and cameras. The program also works as a player: it can find content shared by other DLNA devices on the network and play it on the PC. Media files are collected in a library with separate sections for videos, photos and music, which can be sorted by day, month, year or location. A transfer list shows files copied between the PC and connected devices, and files received from another device are saved to a folder you choose in the settings. Samsung later replaced AllShare with Samsung Link, and that service was shut down in 2016, so the program is no longer developed or supported.

Watching phone videos or PC photos on a TV usually means copying files to a USB stick or connecting a cable. With Samsung AllShare the PC shares its media folders over the home network, so a Samsung Smart TV or another DLNA player can browse and play them directly. The settings let you choose which folders are shared, which devices are allowed to access them, and how the built-in player behaves, for example whether a video resumes from its last position. Because DLNA is an industry standard, the shared content can also be played on many DLNA-compatible devices from other brands. The program only works within a local network and does not offer online storage. It is a simple option for owners of older Samsung TVs and phones who want to stream their PC media at home.
