Motorola Phone Tools (MPT)

Motorola Phone Tools otherwise referred to as MPT is software developed by Avanquest Software (formerly BVRP) for Motorola. It is intended for Windows Operating Systems and is compatible with a wide variety of Motorola phone models. The software allows a computer to read and identify a Motorola device connected via a USB cable, Bluetooth or infrared. In addition, the software offers the user various useful tools, such as the ability to sync data to the phone, and to backup phone data to a PC.

Motorola Phone Tools is a commercial program that was sold at retail and also bundled with Motorola phones by some mobile operators. It runs on Windows, and its interface is divided into five sections: Personal Data, Communicate, Transfer Files, Customize and Moto Online. The Personal Data section lets you edit, synchronize, back up and restore contacts and calendar entries. The Communicate section lets you read and write SMS and MMS messages on the computer, and the program can use the phone as a modem for GPRS or EDGE internet access. The Customize section contains editors for pictures, melodies and videos, which you can use to prepare wallpapers and ringtones. The software also allows the transfer of files such as MP3, to allow Motorola users to import music to their phones for use as a personal music player. The last release, version 5.17d, dates from 2009, and the program is no longer developed. For later Motorola phones, Motorola offered the free Motorola Media Link application for syncing music, photos and videos.
