Sony PC Companion

Sony PC Companion (Windows version) connects your Sony or Sony Ericsson phone or tablet to a PC and gives you a set of tools and applications for managing the device from your computer.

Use this program to transfer data, back up and restore content, update the device software, and manage contacts and calendars. The start screen offers modules such as Support Zone, Xperia Transfer, Contacts Setup and Media Go, each opened with a single Start button.

Connect your device to the computer with a USB cable to start working with the companion; a built-in 'How to connect' guide explains the steps, and some Android models can also connect over Wi-Fi. You may want to start with a backup of your device in case anything should happen. The 'Backup and Restore' tool lets you choose your phone or tablet and save its content to the PC.

It lets you back up, update and manage your Sony phone or tablet from a computer in one place.

Sync Zone lets you synchronize the contacts and calendar on your phone with your computer, for example with Microsoft Outlook, so you can view and edit them with the comfort of a full keyboard and a large screen.

Support Zone checks for new software for your phone or tablet and for PC Companion itself, and walks you step by step through the update. Xperia Transfer copies content from an old phone to a new Xperia device, and Media Go helps you play, transfer and organize music, photos and videos.

Sony has discontinued PC Companion and replaced it with Xperia Companion, so the program no longer receives updates and its online update service may not work. It remains useful mainly for older Sony and Sony Ericsson devices.
