wavepad is awesome . it's free and simple to use . it works with multiple file types . what I really like about it the most is its noise reduction tool if you have made a recording with the noise in the background it will fix it. it doesn't matter if it's traffic , or kids laughing I have used it multiple times on multiple different kinds of background noise and it works perfectly every time . it has a normalization tool and amplification tool as well as a reverse playback tool . It even works with a VST plugin. You can do a bunch of files at one time. it also does a spectral analysis where you can change the voices on on your recording . this application is so awesome it is only available for free in home use. you cannot use it for any commercial purposes unless you purchase a license .
