Wavelab

Wavelab is an audio editor that offers the user a professional set of tools for editing, mastering and mixing music. Soundtrack operations can be performed individually or in batch mode. In addition to editing functions, Wavelab contains functions for burning audio files to optical discs and creating an Audio CD.

The program includes a sound level normalization tool, a spectral analysis tool, a phase correlation tool, and a spectroscope and oscilloscope. The main editor window is divided into separate panels with project files, timeline, active tool and a section with mastering parameters. You can change the size of any panel yourself. When using VST plug-ins, which are also supported by Wavelab, one (or more) panels are added. Both VST 3 and VST 2 plug-ins are supported. The Pro edition adds spectral editing and audio restoration tools and bundles plug-ins such as EQ-P1A, EQ-M5, VoxComp and SampleAlign. The restoration functions help fight clicks, noise and various sound artifacts.

The Audio Montage window is a multitrack environment for assembling albums and masters, with clip effects and track gaps. When using the editor, you can save the current project to restore it in the future and continue working from where you left off. Very useful for those who have to switch frequently between working on several songs.

Wavelab provides a comprehensive set of tools for high-quality audio editing, mastering and mixing.

Wavelab is a paid editor available as WaveLab Pro and the cheaper WaveLab Elements, and a free trial of WaveLab Pro is available from Steinberg. Current versions are activated with Steinberg Licensing, so a USB-eLicenser dongle is no longer needed.
