This utility is a useful solution for those who for some reason do not use a full antivirus. Alternatively, it can also be used even if you already have some virus protection software installed on your computer. In this case, a small utility can act as an additional scanning tool. Dr.WEB CureIt! is a free (for home use) utility designed to scan and cure computers running the Windows operating system. The utility detects viruses, worms and Trojans of various modifications. In the settings menu, the user will be able to set the necessary scan parameters: for example, select the disks, folders or files to be scanned, determine which action to automatically apply to the detected threats (cure/quarantine, delete). The detected threats are sorted into a list in the program window. Dr.WEB CureIt! moves infected files to quarantine if they cannot be cured, and it also detects keyloggers, dialers, joke programs, hacking tools and other suspicious files.

It should be noted that this utility cannot be used as a replacement for a full-fledged antivirus. The fact is that Dr.WEB CureIt does not protect your computer in real time, i.e. when you visit websites, work with mail or install new software. The utility only cures or removes what is already infected. Also, it does not have an automatic anti-virus update module, so to use the latest version for scanning, you need to download the application again from the official website. It is not recommended to use a version of the utility with outdated databases for a long time, as new threats appear every day. An outdated copy of Dr.WEB CureIt! will simply not be able to recognize a new virus as a threat, and current builds refuse to start scanning once they are out of date. For your information, the virus databases in the download are updated at least once an hour, so the version downloaded just yesterday may be outdated today.

Dr.WEB CureIt does not need to be installed on the computer's hard drive. It can be run from a flash drive or another disk, which is very convenient for curing a computer that has already been infected with a virus. Among the malicious applications recognized by the program can be noted mail and network worms, stealth viruses, polymorphic and macro viruses, spyware, adware, lockers, and many other types of file viruses. Home users can use it free of charge, while commercial use requires a paid licence.
